AI & IP: When New Technology Meets Old Rules

Event Description

  •  Centers & Programs
  •  Public
  •  Students

Explore how generative AI is challenging traditional intellectual property rules and creating new questions for lawyers and their clients. This hands-on session will provide a practical overview of emerging issues across copyright, trademark, rights of publicity, AI training data, deepfakes, and AI-generated content. Participants will work through examples using generative AI and consider where existing IP rules fit—and where the answers remain unsettled. Hands-on: Participants create and evaluate AI-generated content involving real-world IP issues—for example, generating branded content, experimenting with style and similarity, or examining how easily synthetic media can imitate people and protected works.
