E-Board Elections

Tuesday, April 7th | Room 546 | 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. | Active (i.e., dues-paying) members only!

We have 5 board positions—President and 4 Vice Presidents. The President is responsible for all aspects of chapter operations. Each Vice President is responsible for planning one event per semester and otherwise assisting the President as needed.

Members

Make sure your dues are up to date if you want to vote on next year’s leadership. You can log in to your account at Fedsoc.org to check or ask Morgan Larson during FedSoc Office Hours on Tuesday, March 24th.

Candidates

If you are interested in running, please email Morgan Larson at Morgan.Larson@asu.edu a statement of interest by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26th

Statements of interest will be circulated to the chapter on Friday, March 27th

Proxy Voting

Students who will not be able to attend the election are encouraged to give their proxy vote to someone, as we require a quorum of voters to hold the election. You may authorize any active, dues-paying member of FedSoc to vote on your behalf.

Proxy votes will be accepted between Friday, March 27th (after candidate statements are emailed) and Monday, April 6th at 5:00 p.m. Proxy voting authorizations received outside of that window are considered void. If you are giving somebody your proxy vote, you must cc Morgan Larson at Morgan.Larson@asu.edu, so that we can keep an accurate count. Proxy authorizations that fail to cc Morgan Larson will also be considered void.

Email your proxy votes in one of three ways:
1. Broad Authority: Suppose you wish to give Morgan Larson authority to vote on your behalf, however she sees fit, such authorization would be expressed as follows: “I authorize Morgan Larson to vote on my behalf.”

2. Candidate Specific, but not Position Specific: Suppose you wrote, “I authorize Morgan Larson to vote for James Madison on my behalf.” That language would authorize Morgan to vote on your behalf only for James Madison, but for any position for which he is running. That is, she could vote for him for President, and, if he lost, for Vice President.

3. Candidate and Position Specific: Suppose you wrote, “I authorize Morgan Larson to vote for James Madison for President on my behalf.” That language would only authorize Morgan to vote for James Madison only for President. Your proxy vote would not be applied to any other election, as Morgan would not have the authority to vote on your behalf for Vice President.
