Former Congressman and Presidential Candidate Joe Walsh will be visiting ASU Law to discuss the Trump Administration's recent actions and how they threaten core principles of the First Amendment, including the right to dissent. During the conversation, moderators will lead a conversation with Mr. Walsh covering his political background, why he joined the Democratic party, his core principles and the importance of free speech/discourse, and a variety of specific actions that threaten these rights including: The use of the FCC to censor dissent, mid-year gerrymandering as a way to silence voices electorally, and the use of RICO charges against policy institutes and protesters, executive orders targeting symbolic speech, and lawsuits against media companies.
