What: Oplinger-Blake Closing Argument Competition
Preliminary Rounds: April 15th and 16th
Final Rounds: April 18th
Time: 6 - 9:00 PM
Where: BCLS Room 442
The competition is a closing argument prepared from a closed case file, sponsored by the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel. All 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls are welcome to compete! The Competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to hone their oral advocacy skills with feedback from practicing attorneys. There are significant cash prizes for the top three finishers!
Competitors will give a 15-minute closing argument. Plaintiff can reserve time for rebuttal at the end (1-2 mins recommended).
Timekeepers will time competitors' arguments (3 hour time commitment). FOOD and kudos provided (plus you get to network with the attorneys judging in your room).
Please DO NOT sign up to be both a competitor and a timekeeper.
Sign-ups will close on Sunday, April 6th and the problem materials will be released on April 8th and 9th.
IF YOU SIGN UP, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW! If you don't show, unless there's an emergency, you will be banned from competing for 1 year.
